Geographical Balancing Zones
The vertical intensity and direction of earth's magnetic field, the inclination, influences the horizontal plane of a compass needle according to the latitude where it is used. Due to the inclination the compasses must be balanced for several zones in order to keep the needle in horizontal position.
Suunto compasses are balanced for five geographical zones which are:
Northern Hemisphere
Northern Equatorial
Southern Equatorial
Southern Hemisphere
Australia, New Zealand and Antarctica
If you require a different compass to your standard country address, please specifiy in the 'Comments' box when placing an order.
